I guess just because you've written one great book, doesn't mean everything you produce will be good. THOT7G is overwritten, overexplained, sentimental drivel that reads more like pop Victorian melodramas. Only at least with those (like East Lynne, check it out), you have some story to move it along. This is just the same thing explained to you as if you're a child only for hundreds of pages. I couldn't finish it fast enough.

Nice work on The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne, but you should have taken a break before you started this.
