it was amazing
bookshelves: literary-fiction

This book made me feel relieved my father is not a Rabbi. I don't know a lot about contemporary Jewish culture, so I don't know how common or uncommon Hasidism is, but Potok made it so real and intense that I found myself completely mesmerized by it. His characters are so deeply introverted and thoughtful and intelligent. I felt like I entered an entirely new world, reading this book. A Jewish world. And it made me realize how little I know about contemporary Jewish culture. If anyone has any recommendations for more books on this topic, I'd love them.
