One of my favorite books. This is the first Stewart O'Nan book I've read. I've read several more since, but unfortunately, his other novels were not as good as this.
A story about family, as told from several different family members, on vacation at their family cottage by the lake. Rather a slow plot; not much happens, but the character development is SUPERB. Stewart O'Nan's character development reminds me a lot of King; and since I love King's work so much it only makes sense that I would enjoy this as well. But one of the things that I enjoyed most about this book was the setting for the novel. The family vacation by the lake theme reminded me alot of my own childhood vacations up in Maine.
I remember clearly thinking "This is the book I wish I could write" when I finished the last line. It is the style and type of book I would like to be able to write.
