The Great War and Modern Memory
by Paul Fussell
by Paul Fussell
This was a ponderous volume.
I read it, after a while continuing to read it just because it was a challenge. Shown here is the paperback edition. I read the hard-bound, and my arms grew weak supporting the tome.
This is not a history of WWI. It is a an analysis of the impact on culture of WWI.
This is a book that should inhabit the shelves of English majors. It should serve as a reference to those who delve into, and create literature.
I am mailing my hardbound copy to the only English major I know, so he can keep it on his shelf.
