I loved this book. Okay, so it did not follow history exactly, but it does not make claims that it does. I appreciated it as a work of fiction with a framework of history.

The story is well told. I could not put this book down. Even though the outcome is well known, I found myself gripped by the story and wondering what would happen next. I could not wait to be able to pick it up again when I had to put it down. The dynamics of politics, family drama, religion, sibling rivalry, loyalty, love, winning and losing were so fascinating.

Pretty much everyone I have spoken to about this book have told me that the author's other books are just as interesting, and worthy of being read. Most have read the entire series. I can't wait to read the next one.
