The Law and the Lady

Based on the beginning of this novel, I judged that this would be a rather slow-paced, mildly interesting book. Boy was I mistaken! This book twists and turns itself through a host of interesting scenes and characters all the while feeding you slowly, bit by bit, morsels of a highly engaging mystery. The scenario is that of a recently married couple - the lady learns of the existence of a terrible secret in her husband's past. She then determines, first to decipher the secret, and then to legally rectify it. Hence, the Law and the Lady. My only complaint with this book was (of course) the ending. Justice had been acquired.......why could it not be executed? Over-all, 3.5 stars.
