Here's another book that I probably should have read before now, but somehow never got to. It's certainly not something I would ever be attracted to on my own, but it was well written and capture the voices of the characters really well, and it's easy to see why it's considered so significant. I think it's more remarkable considering that it was written by a sixteen-year-old. It's both heartbreaking and hopeful, and I was especially taken by the juxtaposition of Ponyboy's knowledge of hardship and his innocence.
