It's beautifully written. Therefore anything less than three stars seems to be pretty unfair. Plus I can understand Lennie's actions and I like her memories of her sister and the closeness between them (mostly conveyed in compact prose). But still, I didn't manage to connect with Lennie, which made reading the book harder and harder. I stopped at page 69 and browsed through the rest.
Downloading and reading sample chapters should be the right thing for me and my purse. But the method does not represent much appeal: When I really like the teaser pages, I want to read the rest pronto - opposed to ordering it eventually or never. And when I am not particularly impressed, I feel cheated somehow. I think: "Maybe five pages more would do the trick", but I cannot test them. Strange, I know.
