** spoiler alert ** Um. hmmm. On the upside, this is the only one of Dickens' five Christmas books that I was able to make it the whole way through besides A Christmas Carol. On the downside, the story is just...random. We're supposed to believe that mean, miserly Tackleton is suddenly cheerful and nice at the end (much like Scrooge...) for absolutely no reason? Unlike Scrooge, Tackleton does not go through any sort of life-changing experience to cause a total 180, and in fact, at the end, his bride-to-be marries someone else instead, leaving him alone. So...yeah. That's pretty much all I've got to say about it.
