On the Edge (The Edge, #1)

A light and fun PNR. Really more like 3.5 stars, but since gr's doesn't have half stars, I'm knocking this down to a 3 for the horrid cover alone.
My favorite thing about this book is that Andrews writes 2 children characters, little brothers to the main female character, who are totally endearing and fun without ever being overly precious, precocious, or anything else annoying like that! The romancey bits start out super cheesy. Honestly, I really don't think that grown women would make such fools of themselves gawking at a beautiful man ... beautiful celebrity perhaps, but that's a different story. And the two lead characters themselves are pretty cliche. The arrogant but brave nobleman and the plucky, independent, unrefined woman from the poor side of town (well, in this case, living between the worlds of the magical and non-magical). However, the romance around mid way through actually becomes quite sweet and by the end, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not to mention that the urban fantasy aspects of this book are done far better than the typical PNR, with a fleshed out, interesting world and magic system. Love this author, will be reading the next in the Edge series.

That cover is pretty hideous. No wonder you want an e-reader. :p

It's sadly not even the worst. There's one PNR I want to read that is by far the worst (fake looking angel wings and all), and it doesn't come in ebook format!! *shakes fist*
