really liked it
bookshelves: ya, war, dystopian, lady-author, lady-main-characters
Read from December 21 to 22, 2010

I am sad that Katniss is so srs bsnss. It's also super interesting to realize that you and the author know way more physics than the point-of-view character. The sheer pervasiveness of the screwiness of Penam is pretty great, too - every single solitary citizen has drunk the Kool-Aid, everyone has bought into the Games and the class structure and the Capitol's twistedness, and you find yourself thinking in terms of their logic, which is frightening. In a good way. Collins uses too many fragments and Katniss is not my most favorite of narrators - I feel like Peeta would be a hell of a lot more fun - but everything else is solid and enjoyable. Boom.
