The Shadow Rising (Wheel of Time, #4)
by Robert Jordan
by Robert Jordan
There are a couple of reasons that I have chosen to undertake this immense series that will require days and days of my life in order to consume it. One of the reasons, is the large cast of characters in addition to these characters have very strong archetypal leanings. So when the first three books always climaxed the same way, with all the characters together battling pure evil, it got a little dull, also the author would refer to many mysteries, but never reveal any of them. This novel, started, finally to reveal many of the secrets that are hinted at in the previous books, its fun. Also, the author finally takes advantage of his large cast of character and has them all start to have adventures and explore the world on their own. I guess my only criticism is that, the views on male female relations are all the same, and everyone is extremely moral, that just does not seem really natural to me, there would probably be more of a dichotomy, I realize this is not a huge thing, and since I have suspended reality to the point where the is another world I can suspend it a bit more, this was just something that bothered me. The most enjoyable book in the series for me so far, I actually was excited to continue reading this book.
