wonderfully written book by forensic anthropologist Bill Bass about his experiences transitioning from an academic anthropologist to that of one who specializes in forensic anthropology. His is also infamous for establishing the "Body Farm" at the Univ of Tenn where various states/conditions of body decomposition are studied in vivo and the science gained from this assists with homicide cases. The written style is very unassuming and easy to follow; even if you dont have a science background each chapter is great exploration into various cases throughout Dr Bass' career.
