I'm not really a fan of reading biographies but I love Russian History and this book reads almost like a novel. The author does an amazing job of painting Nicholas and Alexandra as deeply flawed but fundamentally good people who are not cut out for leadership. It's a heartbreaking train wreck to read, especially since you probably know what happens to them before you even pick up the book. Just be aware that this book was written in the 1960's so a lot of new information about the Romanovs has come out since then.
