This book has won A LOT of awards for its innovative Graphic Novel usage as well as for tackling some hard themes of immigration, racial differences and friendship. I liked how Yang fuses three stories and there is a rich sense of Chinese heritage throughout the text. Also, the format is so different that this text appeals to a different audience than just your typical YA lit reader. I would recommend this book to reluctant readers who enjoy other cultures, transformers and/or video games. Age rec: junior high school and up.
