Politics as gossip. Don't we all just love to be part of the in-group and be in on the low down dirt? If this is what passes for journalism than let me have honest pornography. This is a warts eye view of the 2010 presidential election but in really it's a trash eye view. The absence of attribution matters not at all. The superficial nature of the book that sees the 2010 election not as a triumph of a special moment where the first Afro-American to be elected President of the United States is reduced to a dance of tactics and stratagems. Simon Schama's "The American Future; A History" was all this book was not, even if it lacked the inside view of who was in and out in each campaign. A book about a moment replete with gravitas that completely lacks any itself.
