Howards End is on the Landing: A Year of Reading from Home

Sign me up for a similar reading project, all I'm missing is the farmhouse in Gloucestershire and the endless number of books on my bookshelves. I definitely enjoyed her journey, however, I had to remind myself many times that these are her opinions and that's okay. I actually choked on my coffee when she mentioned that Colin Firth is not her idea of a Mr. Darcy , and her opinions on Canadian and Australian authors - or was it Canada and Australia she didn't like?? made me scratch my head. On the other hand, I found many of her ideas quite moving and she pointed me in the direction of new reading choices, and for that I'm grateful!
I notice that Susan Hill is on the jury for the Booker 2011 prize, good luck to any aspiring Canadian or Australian authors hoping to make the list.

I enjoyed this book too, but what was up with the Canadian Australian thing? Strange.
