I've never been inordinately interested in Marilyn Monroe (though it always intrigued that she married both a very famous icon/baseball player and a very famous intellectual/playwright). But of course I know the tagline--flirty sex goddess who just couldn't ever stay happy. I don't want to overstate it, but Fragments is a spare, smartly designed collection of photographs and hand-written ephemera (quick notes and party-planning lists and sad scribbles and unformed poems and a few diary entries) which implored me to understand and care a little more about a woman--an actual and flawed and fascinating person, not a Star or Cliche. I knocked my socks off!
