This novel follows Evie as her and her family make the transition to their whole new lives. Evie's father is a police officer who chooses to testify against two other police officers who killed a young african american boy. When the family starts receiving death threats from former friends Evie's family is placed in the witness protection program. Evie loose everything including her name as her life is uprooted and the family is moved to New York from Colorado. Evie tries to adjust to her new life as her sister works desperately to get out of the house, her mother becomes obessessed with her newfound religion, and her father spirals into a severe depression. I would recommend this book to young readers who like mysteries.
