I have wanted to read a Tim Dorsey book for a while. But with all the other books waiting for me I’ve been holding off. Vampires… So I’ve got a lateral bite infatuation.

Atomic Lobster seemed it would be my kind of book: Johnny - an accidental virgin, the G-team getting more than Johnny, Jim the accidental hero, Coleman the always hammered, Serge the homicidal maniac but in a good way, Rachael the stripper, the McGraws… it’s a tripped up cast and in Florida, too. But with all the makings of a great read I struggled to keep reading.

I didn’t mind the back and forth between the character scenes. I had trouble seeing a light where they would all intersect. The point… I became disenchanted with the book early on, dreading going back. Ultimately, skimming until the end. There were moments of hilarity and the book was written well… maybe it was just me, I couldn’t get into this book. And for that reason I have no desire to read more of Dorsey’s work.
