really liked it
bookshelves: women-s-fiction

This book arrived on my doorstep exactly one day after I read a review of it that made me want to find it. I had the stomach flu and was confined to my bed and it was as if the universe delivered a special present just for me.

I read it straight through, curled up with my cats and a cup of tea, gladly transported to another world. I loved the neighborhood, the characters, the loose interconnectedness of the stories and the fast, easy pace of the reading. There are fun references to the funny world of yoga in America, especially in LA, a land of all things beautiful. Mitchell pokes gentle fun at the glitzy, capitalistic aspects, but also the extreme practice aspects.

Despite a few first-book flaws (a lot of classifying groups of people in an ironic way that eventually started to bug me slightly), I genuinely I look forward to the next installment.
