** spoiler alert ** I listened to this one on audiobook. I've missed a few of the last WOTU books (still need to read the 2nd Jaime one and both Hope books) but since this one was about Elena and the pack, I figured it'd be easy to jump back in.

The narrator on this is Jen Taylor, who is a pretty popular voice actress. She sounded REALLY familiar to me and I soon figured out why - she does the voice of Zoey in Left 4 Dead! Naturally being the big L4D fan, this made the audiobook that much more exciting. ;) At first, though, I didn't care for the narration. 'Clay' sounded different than I'd pictured him, and Jen Taylor kind of galloped through the narrative. It threw me off in the beginning but after listening to it for a little while, I decided I liked her voice. And by the middle of the book, I'd decided I wanted to see if there were more WOTU books narrated by Jen Taylor. Big thumbs up for the audiobook.

The plot in this one is kind of complex - there's a pack of mutts in Alaska causing trouble, and there's hints that there might be some other kind of nasty thing in the woods, etc. Couple this in with Elena's personal conflict of whether or not she wants to be Alpha, and it was a strong, strong read. There were a few nights I stayed up too late listening, terrified for the characters on what would happen next. The plot was tight, and tense, and I really thought a few times that it was going to go in a bad direction, but it never did.

I will say that if you are triggery, a lot of the plot of FROSTBITTEN revolves around Elena and men wanting to possess her (usually forcibly). It did get a bit overwhelming toward the middle, but Armstrong is a great writer and Elena is a very tough protagonist, so I did not mind that much, but others might find it a bit overwhelming.

There's lots of Clay in this book, and Clay is just awesome.

Not sure I'd re-read this one but I'm definitely going to go back and get the audiobook for BITTEN!
