Bill O'Reilly is about my age, he was born in 1949, so in that sense he and I are contemporaries. I have read several books about life in the 50's and this is one of the best. It is witty, accurate and evokes for me fond memories of life as it was in the days of Ozzie and Harriet. While the history lesson is important to the book, it is just a vehicle to explain why O'Reilly is O'Reilly.

O'Reilly's claim is that he is neither a democrat or conservative. Having watched plenty of the O'Reilly factor I doubt the claim and will go so far as to say Bill maybe a bit delusional. Although there is more than a small slice of self aggrandizement I am enjoying the book and will probably read others he has written.
