I am currently reading this first book to the new series, the Kane Chronicles, by Rick Riordan. Rick Riordan is a recently famed author because of his hit series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which I love!! This book is a bit different. Two siblings: smart, stick-to-the-rules Carter, and headstrong, let's-find-out-what-we-can,-wing-it,-and-be-daring Sadie have been separated their whole lives. Carter has traveled the world with their dad, an archaeologist who studies Egypt, and Sadie has lived with their grandparents in London. But on a twice-a-year trip to visit each other (on Christmas Eve), they are thrown into the midst of an ancient Egyptian world full of magic, Egyption gods, heiroglyphics, and powers they would've never imagined. I reccommend it if you like a book full of Riordan's style - action-packed encounters and the funniness of the characters' attitudes.
The only part I didn't really like about this book was the ending. I just didn't really like the feel they left with you. It didn't end how I expected and that may have just thrown me off, but it seemed a bit sad and like all the fabulous adventures you read about weren't worth it. Sort of. It almost makes me not want to read the next ones in the series. I don't know - read it for yourself and decide what you think about the ending! But all in all, it was a good book.
