really liked it

Set in the time of the American expansion of the 19th century, this novella embraces the circumstances when miners and homesteaders find themselves isolated for long stretches of time with only their partner for company. It is a story of discovery on the part of two miners who have now discovered gold and are talking of going to the nearest "town" to seek female company after long months of celibacy. Their friendship also expands as they own up an attraction between themselves while recognizing that they both want a woman in their lives. Honor is running away from Indian capture being the only survivor of an attack on her San Francisco-bound wagon train. Somehow their lives seem to be destined to be interwoven, but that does not mean that there aren't difficult days ahead relationally.
