4.5 Stars
I don't read much anthology since short stories are just well, short, and I find it hard to connect with the characters. That all seemed to change once I finished this book.
I Absolutely loved it!
Let it Snow is about three couples. Three stories. Written by three authors. Each story is semi-connected to the other, giving us a full picture of the events of these characters night and the Christmas miracle that graced there lives.
The first story is by Maureen Johnson, titled The Jubilee Express, were we meet a girl named Jubilee, yeah, she ain't happy about that either.
Her plans of spending Christmas Eve with her very distinguished (and IMO boring) boyfriend Noah is shot to hell when her parents got send to jail for a shopping riot (chuckles) and Julie has been shipped off by train to go to Florida and spend Christmas Eve with her grandparents. Only she never made it there since the train broke down in Gracetown. Not wanting to stay on the train with a bunch of (heaven forbid) cheerleaders, Julie makes her way to a Waffle House where she meets a guy named Stuart who takes her in from the long cold winter night and along the way opens her eyes and maybe even her heart....
A Cheetastic Christmas Miracle is written by the incredible (and hilarious) John Green.
Tobin, JP and the Duke (aka Angie) are on a mission. In this snowy adventure to the destined salvation of the Waffle House, with visions of cheerleaders, twister and hash browns dance sweetly in there heads.
The last story is called The Patron Saint of Pigsby Lauren Myracle. Which is about changes and a second chance.
Each story is great, but I just loved the first two. I thought Stuart and Jubilee were the sweetest thing and John Green knows how to write the funny that I just smiled the whole way through his story, loving that you just can't "unthink it once it's thought".
I wish I could have liked Myracle' story more, but I thought Addie was an awful character and she didn't deserve Jeb IMO, but never the less, the three stories combined made up a whole lot of sweet moments that melted me and tons of laugh to keep me smiling the whole night long. Making this the perfect read to snuggle up with while drinking hot chocolate on a cold winters night. This is definitely a book I'll be pulling off my shelf every year from now on. Loved it!
