I read this while waiting for time to while away, the snow to stop and the sun to come out this morning. I never quite liked Kundera before, but after this lovely short book I've realized that he has some very pertinent things to say about Central/Eastern European identity and I will be on a look out for his other books on the topic. Of course, he says some really interesting stuff about the history of the novel and how we read novels, everything paired up with enough trivia on French and Czech authors to make it light reading in terms of literary criticism.
