An enjoyable series if stories. One story is about 3 rednecks who go to donate blood and get afoul of the law. Another story is about a lawyer who defends a doctor and the loser of the case kidnaps him to show him why he's wrong. Another story is about a husband whose wife leaves him and how he gambles his way to get her back. Another story about lawyer that cheats his clients and leaves his wife. Another story about a death row inmate and his possible last day with his family. Still another story is how a gay man with Aids is ostracized by ignorant small town folks except for his older African American nurse. The last story (not in order) is about a con man who treats his marks from nursing homes with kindness (of sorts). A weird collection and all tied together because the setting is Ford County, Mississippi. Overall I enjoyed the stories but I'm not from rural Mississippi. Many of the characters are ignorant and without compassion and the men have no connection to their wives. Grisham might try to be a little more uplifting with his roots. Unless he really hates Mississippi that much.
