I've read several of Carolly Erickson's books but there always seems to be glaring historical liberties in each and every one. A fictional lover, a fictional trip to a different country, a young husband instead of an old one, fictional discussions (as in this book). I like the way she writes from the main
subject's point of view. I don't like the "out-on-a-limb" meanderings of the plot. I'll keep reading her because I like any/all books about history but so far I've not added her to my favorite author's list.
