despite the two star rating, the book is very well written. and anyone who loves historical fiction should enjoy bloody jack. there are some plausibility issues - but i was able to suspend reality through most of it. unfortunately it was just really hard for me to stomach the protagonist post-puberty. all of her emotional upheaval/teenage love angst was just too much for me. by the end of the book, i was so relieved to not hear anything else about jamey.
