Kleypas lovers. Romance readers. Readers looking for a romance with just a touch of Christmas.

This story was a holiday story only in the lightest sense of the word. Yes, the story took place around Christmas, yes there was a couple of "Christmas-y" scenes, and a Christmas Eve ball. The rest of the story though focused on the characters of the story, not the season itself. That's not necessarily to be taken as a complaint. It's not a complaint, just a fact.
I picked out the story based on the Christmas title, but I was not disappointed by Lisa Klepas' writing at all. She is a really good writer and I look forward to hearing more of her books.
The Wallflowers are a group of 4 women who used to be wallflowers, but assisted each other in finding and marrying their husbands. This story is the 4 women working together to help another "wallflower" to find her "happily-ever-after".
Normally with romance writers, I'll grow frustrated because the conflict so often is the character's own thoughts, morals, or what-have-you. Kleypas has done a great job, of creating a sweet story with legitimate conflicts and without dragging out the inner, moral dilemmas of the characters. They face their problems, ponder them a bit, and then do what they know is right for themselves.
Yet, she is very adept at writing the selfish, self-absorbed characters realistically.
For the first time, that I can recall, I am sorry that an author has allowed the reader to follow along with characters in a series. Because I can not go back and read the Wallflower series, as Klepas has brought me up-to-date with all the Wallflowers and their happy endings.
I will make sure to get more of her titles and read them though. Thank-you to those who recommended her books to me. Give me a heads up (remind me) and I'll make sure to place your name in the recommended box, I like to give credit where it's due.
