really liked it
bookshelves: children-s-book, picture-book, pre-2000, fiction

I wanted to put this book in the classics section, but then I asked around, and most people don't really remember this book from their childhood. Like The giver, Mirette on the High Wire was also published in the nineties, so I guess my prediction might be premature. I, on the other hand, loved it as a kid, and hope it is still circulating in the next decade when I have children. The book won the 1993 Caldecott Medal, and is a story about conquering fear. So, I guess it's not a classic, but Mirette's story is a good one, and the drawings are beautiful. For ages 4-8.
