The Weekend, by Bernhard Schlink, narrated by Jefferson Mays, produced by Recorded Books, downloaded from audible.com.
Here is a book of a microcosm of old friends brought together for a reunion after 30 years. They were all friends of a young man who went to prison as a terrorist, not sorry that he murdered innocent people because he was trying to prove a principle. Now he’s out. His devoted sister has brought him for a weekend to the country and has invited those who were his old friends before he became involved as a terrorist. He insists on inviting an old friend who was also a terrorist, and his sister can’t deny him. Everyone in the group has different impressions of, and feelings, about the man just released from prison. This is an intense book about a small group of people forced to deal with each other and some very intense feelings over a weekend. The location for this book is present-day Germany.
