Bushnell's characters in "Trading Up" were very well developed. I enjoyed reading about the intricacies of each of them. I also enjoyed the layout of the book. Everytime I thought I had Janey kind of figured out, Bushnell threw in a flashback, or a version of a scene from someone elses point of view, and I'd have a new thought on Janey.

While Janey wasn't the most likeable character, she was interesting to read about; almost seducing, which is exactly how her character is, literally and figuratively.

I probably could've gone for a different ending, but on the other hand, it was realistic in its own way---in that some people just continue to have a star shining on them no matter what they do.

This was my first Bushnell novel (well, besides "4 Blondes", which was short stories) and I will definitely come back for more.
