really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction
Read from March 12 to 19, 2012

I didnt know what to expect with this novel as I havent read any of C.W.Gortner's books. I bought it on the strength of the very good reviews it received on GR and Amazon. However I was very pleasantly surprised and was riveted to it by page 25! I didnt know anything about spanish history and only knew the names of Isabella and Ferdinand from when they were mentioned in english historical novels. The book has prompted me to do a bit of research and get to know more about Juana and her story and find it fascinating. Ive made a mental note to read more about spanish history and on the strength of this book I have also now ordered C.W. Gortner's book on Catherine de Medici as I was quite impressed with the author's writing.
