It didn't take me long to get through this novel on running. It tells the story of a track athlete at a fictional college located in the Florida panhandle in the 1970s. It's funny that the main character is a miler but regularly runs 120+ miles a week in his training, with long runs in excess of 20 miles at a time. Sports science has come a long way since then! Even so, it's pretty motivating to read/listen (I consumed the audiobook version of the book) to the accounts of the various training regimens, workout details and the like - oh wait, maybe just exercise science geeks like me like that kind of stuff! Anyhow, if you are a runner, chances are you will like this book - check it out. Recommended.
