I felt very sad for Bezellia because her parents were so distant emotionaly. Her sister was mentally ill and her mother refused to acknowledge it. Her father was a ghost in the house. Bezelllia fell in love with a black boy when she was a girl. The love was strong for both of them but could not exist in the south at this time. Everthing else I could say would be a spoiler.
