Late Nights on Air
by Elizabeth Hay
What a coincidence, Craig. I'm off in a couple hours to watch Elizabeth Hay do a reading of this book, here at the Public Library, in Ottawa. And of course I'll be picking up the book. And maybe signed!
I had the chance to see and hear Elizabeth Hay read from the book last fall at the final event of the IFOA here in Toronto. She was very good and I did get her to sign my copy of the book. Enjoy the event.
Thanks Craig, the event was a good one. The follow-up question and answer session was great, too. Hay came off as a little shy, modest and smart. And I see now that the novel is one of those where I'll have to be patient and take in the wonderful descriptive prose. I'm looking forward to it.

I found the novel a bit sleepy as first as the pace was very slow but by midway I was well into the story. I was expecting detailed descriptions of the north but for me Hay’s character descriptions dominated. I very much enjoyed her use of light in the novel. All in all a very good read.
