bookshelves: crap

Sex-crazed, bulemic, thief Hannah; over-achiever, boyfriend-stealer Spencer; swimmer, possibly gay Emily and sophisticated yet fragile Aria: what could these girls have in common? They all used to be best friends and they all have secrets. In this melodramatic, soap-opera-ish addition to the Mean Girls genre, four old friends, who went their separate ways after the disappearance of their leader Alison battle insecurities, parents and hormones as a ghost comes back to haunt them in the form of text messages and emails. This book made me laugh more than gasp in horror, the stupidity of these girls is almost unbelievable. The stupidity of their parents is even more cringe worthy. I understand that they're teenagers but surely not ALL teenagers are as irresponsible as the characters in this book! A break from their escapades would be lovely, thank you. Simple writing, too reliant on lusty, hormone-driven adventures to really hold any interest.
