This is one of Christina Dodd's earlier novels and I am not sure I would look for her books if it had been the first one I had read by her.
The story is an interesting one and I enjoyed the historical details. It just seemed to lack the style that other, more recent, books I have read by her have and that have put her on my want-to-read list.
If I stumble across the second book in the series I would probably read it, but I won't go out of my way to find it. I already have four more of her more recent books waiting in the bedside queue.
