After Krystl gave this book a whopping 5 stars, I have to admit that I expected more from it than it ultimately delivered. It didn't particularly impress me any more than the first book had. I do like Artemis as a character--my problem is that so little of these books is actually ABOUT him. Colfer jams so many characters into such small space, and seems to want to give them all equal "air time" even though they aren't equally important or interesting. I'll continue to read the series and will probably come to appreciate them more over time, but for now, they just don't feel personal enough. And there's way too much talk about gadgets and technology; I always end up spacing out during these points and then coming back a little unsure of what just happened. I can see why these books are so popular with a certain subset of teen/tween readers, but they're not totally my cup of tea.
