A favorite story of mine. Takes place in the deep South and involves two sisters who are as different as night and day. One is sweet and kind, while the other is hard and unpleasant. As the story unfolds each sister is introduced to many magical and wonderful things at an old woman's home in the woods. The very different reactions of each sister to the incredible sights at the old woman's house brings each what they deserve. This story is most similar to Cinderella. Great illustrations. Very Entertaining. Best for middle elementary grades as the story is quite long with a lot of text on each page.
