The first Kerouac I enjoyed! More experimental (and probably tedious, though I found it fascinating) in style, the book has interesting things to say about voyeurism, cinema, Hollywood spectacles (as in events, not glasses), and recording devices. Really worth checking out, even if you hated On the Road (as I must admit, I did).
