Drums of Autumn (Outlander, #4)

I have spent all day reviewing books. I vow to (hopefully) never get so behind on my reviews again. Trying to remember my thoughts about a book that I read almost two months ago is nigh impossible. Shame on me.
I am staunch supporter of this historical, sort-of paranormal, romantical (sorry, had to keep the “al” ending going) series and my gosh, the hours that Diana must pore into the research for them, but the length of them has started to wear on me. I had to give myself a pep talk before I started this last 896 page tome. Maybe I should take some responsibility for this. When you are used to reading a YA Fiction book in one day, something like an Outlander book becomes even more daunting. However, they’ve been worth it. I say they’ve been because this last one was right on the line. Claire and Jamie’s connection has always been really compelling, but it fell by the wayside in this book and I sorely missed it. This book was partially about Jamie and Claire settling and finding a place in The Americas, but it was equally, if not more so, about Brianna and Roger. Brianna discovers that her parents are going to die in a fire in their home and she decides to travel through the rocks to warn them. Roger discovers what she’s done and goes after her. Much confusion ensues, but one long winter, one rape, and one baby of unknown parentage later, everyone is together, safe, and happy. For now.
