Female Companions are provided for disassociated teen boys. Companions get to know you emotionally, and shock you if you try to touch or kiss them too soon. Not sure if there is anything comparable for teen girls in this book--I don't think so. I think that would have made the book more interesting. As it stands, it is so much about sex. All the boys want to have sex with their gorgeous girl Companions, and the idea is that they will get somewhat physically intimate. I guess that is the dystopian idea in this book doesn't work somehow. Not for me. Too much sex, not enough insight into anyone's point-of view (despite the omniscient third person). Not enough exploration of issues I think would be interesting for teens--or for me.

I will give almost anything with humanlike robots a shot, but I was not really impressed by this book.
