I found this book fascinating--the whole concept behind the story, the writing, the climax. I really enjoyed reading this. I've read other reviews where it was criticized for having too "modern" a tone and while I do agree with that somewhat, I think it makes it easier for me as a modern reader to relate to May and her story. I liked seeing the women start sympathizing with the native Americans and take their side against the white man who really wasn't being fair to them. This is an intriguing idea and I really enjoyed reading it. (Although I will say most of the rest of my book club didn't care for it as much as I did.)
