Sookie Stackhouse has promised to attend a vampire summit for the Queen of Louisiana and use her telepathic powers to listen in on the other human attendees at the conference. The task didn't seem so dangerous when Sookie was first hired by the Queen but the situation has changed. The Queen is facing an inquiry into her husband's death, which Sookie was a witness to, and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, vampire power centers are shifting between the states, making it a time of instability and danger for all involved. The vampires also have to contend with the growing numbers of the Fellowship, which would be glad to see them all eliminated.

I'm enjoying how the plot is becoming more serious and more central to this series, instead of the main focus being on Sookie's love life. The mix of weres and vampires is still entertaining and although the plot was a little predictible in this one, it was one of my favourites in the series; plus, lots of Eric!
