** spoiler alert ** At the beginning of the book, I thought it was going to be a promising story. Typical Sandra style, going to meet 4 main characters, 1 old romance, 1 new...I was excited. Something happened by midway through the book. It was as if she was distracted by something else and not focusing on the story line because I felt like I had been left in the middle of this quasi-boring story. The bad guy was not even close to being scary, suspenseful, or exciting until almost the very end. I felt that the younger couple lost that "connecting spark". Supposedly they were sharing meaningful glances and moments but they just didn't come across that way at all. And it seemed like every few pages Berry was lying down to take a nap because she was so exhausted from the stress of it all. Well, I'm sure she was but it seemed like all she did was sleep for quite a while. And the ending...I really didn't like that. Poor Dodge had been through so much. I mean really? Did it really have to end that way?? Give the guy a break. He's a cool character and had given so much during the book I felt like he deserved a little bit of good fortune in the end.

I really think that Sandra Brown is one of the best authors out there but this was not one of her best. This book was O.K. but I would not recommend it to my friends.
