The Spenser book in which he gets involved in the heroin/reorginized church of the redemption/mop thing and gets seriously shot at the end of the book all while Susan is out in San Francisco area doing her being her own person thing.
"...a woman about the size of the Gadsden Purchase...."
and also the famous quote "..but enough about me. Let's talk about you. What do you think of me?"

Joy I am so glad you are reading the Spenser books. I thought they were so, so funny. I'd 'temporarily' forgotten the "...enough about me..." quote. I agree that the books about Susan's time on her own in California were my least favorite. Glad you're past them.
