A true story, this tale as told by Wambaugh finds two young robbers encountering two young policemen, in an onion field. The fatal shootings evolve into one of the longest and most convoluted trials in California history. It is a fascinating and tragic story - a real parody of crime and punishment. An excellent read.

Pam Walter Rusty, I remember reading The Onion Field many years ago and also really enjoying it. I saw above your Stephanie Plum. I like to grab one of those between more serious reading. Another author in the same vein is Sue Grafton, whose character is Kinsey Millhone, also a PI in northern CA. She's a hoot. Grafton's books are alphabetical. A is for Alibi...etc.

Have you read her?

Rusty Pam, We seem to have many books we like to read in common. Yes, I have read many of Sue Grafton's books but I have not put any reviews of them on gr. I like short concise reviews without spoilers. Fun, light books. Like you I try to put light reading between the heavier and more complex - mysteries, classic teen books I've never read, etc.
